honestly stories this good are irresponsible because my brain simply refuses to accept that candace isn't a real person and that the events of this book aren't like, canon to real life. Can't wait for more Erin Mayer books to be out in the world so I can go on a rollercoaster like this all over again.more Read! This! Book!! But just do it knowing that there are very few out there that will live up to the wild expectations that this one sets. It's going to be a staple of the genre, I just know it in my heart, and I can't wait for it to come out so I can scream about it in good company. This story yanked me by the collar from page one and pulled me all the way down. I can't possibly count the number of times she described specific feelings or phenomenons in this book that I could spend my whole life trying to put into words, but she did in a way that felt like a sneaky knife between the ribs.

A gorgeous story of love and acceptance and setting your own path in the world, and hopefully a story that will reach readers who need it most. I was not raised religious (despite my last name LOLOL sorry, had to) and am largely unfamiliar with a lot of the conventions and upbringing that set this plot into motion, but Meg and Micah’s voices provide an easy lens to understand it and empathize and connect with it. This book is unlike anything I’ve ever read - heartfelt and brutally honest and romantic, just a messy, beautiful coming of age for both characters full of striking introspection that often made me pause to reread and turn the words over in my head again.
